Chris Harris has had a long relationship with Porsche Bristol and Swindon.
He bought his first 911 from Porsche Swindon back in 1999 when he was still deputy tea boy at Autocar - an '88 911 'Club Sport'. In fact the very first UK 'Club Sport' and the very one he had drooled over as a schoolboy when it appeared in all the original magazine road tests 11 years before.
Apparently, he arrived at Porsche Swindon in the original press GT3 which Autocar were testing and, at the time, was so new even the dealership staff hadn't seen one before.

I enjoy reading Chris Harris' work in several different magazines as and when I come across it (and you can trace his thought processes across the articles which is I guess to be expected if they're all being bashed out in the same week).
Always amazes me how, for a motoring journalist he has such an exotic and frequently changing stable of cars. I know he took a bath on that Gallardo he ran, but he's got a 996 Turbo, 993 GT2 (has he still got this?), and old M5, a recently departed C55 AMG... the list goes on.
Never knew motoring journalism was becoming so well paid!

His 993 GT2 has gone. It was up for sale at Paragon I thought? From following his scribblings for a few years it appears he is also a motor trader on the side. He seems to write for several magazines and the odd paper. Not a bad life by the sounds of things and to top it off he lives in wales...oh those roads with only sheep, locals and the SAS to dodge..

If I recall (turboguru on here told me this story and can probably elaborate)[DELETED]

Perhaps whoever told you that has got more style than to discuss it on a public forum.............R.
Agreed. A private matter that is none of our business.
