On starting or not last night heard a large bang from under the bonnet
and although the engine would fire it would not run. On investigation the air hose had parted from the AFM. After reinstalling no further problems. I can only assume that fuel ignited in the plenum chamber / a back fire occured, never done it before and appears alright now.
So anyone ever had this happen before or was it just a one off as the car had been in the sun all day and everything was very hot. (
found some shade today to park in)

...First off check the cold start injector, if that isn't running it could cause things to backfire into the inlet on startup.
That's the first comment I've heard about the CSI that didn't use the word "disconnect"! I have read that LPG installations are prone to backfire into the inlet which can damage the flap (if it's a flapper?) For these it is normally recommended to leave the pipe connecting the AFM to the plenum slightly loose so it can be the weak link and blow off instead of busting your flaps. Dont think it gives a problem with hot wire systems. It might even clean your air filter LOL.

Don't think so, as it can take the hotwire out..... First lpg-conversions (american stuff) with injection sometimes had a device fitted to avoid damage to whatever air-metering system.
