But on the Jag website, they are both listed as metallic.

Ebony is definately Solid - looks great new and waxed - scratches easily if not cared for.
Midnight is metallic, can see the metallic flecks in the paint - a bit more charcoal like.

Hope it helps!!

I like the solid black look, but a dealer put me off the idea, saying that it doesnt weather well, and that metallic hides imperfections better. Would you say this is wrong then?

Ebony is much more high maintenance -DO NOT CAR WASH!! I think personally, it has much greater sheen - BUT as said before only when new or waxed/polished.

Royles Tim.

I personally prefer Ebony, but as has been said, it's tough to keep it looking tip top, especially after a few years.

Yes, if Ebony is solid black then it looks absolutely the dogs when it's right. But keeping it that way is a right royal pain in the arse. Forget just washing the car off, oh no, it needs to washed, then chammied, then polished. And even then if you not very good at it, it'll still looks wrong

But when it's right, black with cream interior is the way to go.

You just need someone keen to wash it for you.

Car Washs don't do a good job either.

Metallic paints are stonger, but Ebony looks the biz.
