Every time i try and load up IE it loads up the home page and then promptly crashes, with the message IE has experienced a problem and has to shut down IE and restart it. The same problem occurs after restarting, rendering IE completelty useless.

Any ideas whats going wrong and how this can be resolved? I was thinking of just downloading IE6, but doesnt seem to be able to be downloaded from the microsoft site (or I cant find it at least) for Windows ME

Help!

Btw using Firefox which i really dont like much at the moment

Try running spybot search and destroy against your machine first, it's a prety easy fix if it works. Click here for the download link

Make sure to check for updates before you run the scan. Oh, and give FF some time, it's brilliant.

Questions:
What version of IE are you using?
What is the home page set to?

You can change the home page without starting IE by right clicking the desktop icon and selecting properties. I have my home page at work set to blank.

If you want to download IE6 SP1 follow the link www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx
The version will work on any version of Windows from 98.

For a quick hack, use the control panel Internet Options to change the home page to blank. If it still does it I'd suspect that your IE installation is damaged/infected.

For a better solution, visit www.firefox.com

Using IE6, on Windows Millenium edition . Home page is set on Virgin.net.

Just downloaded IE6 SP1, and when tried to install i get this message

Just used that cclcleaner and has worked marvelously for firefox, runs much quicker now, but would still prefer to be using IE

Got past the first message by restarting, now cant seem to install it. I now get a completely different one, something along lines of some parts missing when trying to install.

Would it be easier to completely uninstall internet explorer and then re-installing it all over agian?
