Cheers will think about that 10k offer .........NO
Joking - but it's worth a shout
I was chatting to a friend last night who works as a salesman at the local ford dealers. He had a yellow 4.5 Cerb in as part ex and he couldn't get a trade offer of more than £9k. I was shocked. Needless to say the owner went away to sell it privately as he wanted nearer £16k
Surely the best thing to do is to look at similar cars on the classifieds on here for pricing.

Well I'm currently just started looking to buy and trying to find information about different models and which to buy.
If your car is the 4.5 (I don't know model refrences yet) I'd be interested in looking at it. I only live 40mins from TVR Power so if anything went wrong it would be handy if they knew the car.
As for price being sensible I've been looking at 99 4.5s for 16K and they are usually not mint and have more miles on them. Piston heads ads tend to be a bit optimistic in price compared to autotrader but I'd pay £18K for a really good 99reg.

Doh! Sorry for the ignorance!!! I hate this part when you first decide you want a car and know nothing about it! I've since spent about 10 hours researching on the interweb now so am getting better but I'll be damned if I can work out what the Hydratrak option is all about.
Whats the difference in real world performance between the 6 cylinder and the 4.5 V8? I was dissapointed with the acceleration in the 4.5 not because of the speed but because it pulls practically the same from 2000rpm as it does from 5000 making it feel much slower than a turbo for example. Perhaps I should go out for a spin and see if the six cylinder feels better? But then there's the noise of the 4.5!
Anyway sorry getting caried away on this thread, stopping now.
p.s. thanks for all the offers from those selling 4.5's I will call back one at a time rather than arrange to see them all and dissapoint.
p.p.s. Cheers for friendly attitude of all.

I'll be sure to go out in a few more to ensure it wasn't a poor example but yes I did mean it didn't feel as fast, rather than wasn't as fast. I know they are quick, I was just a tad dissapointed with the lack of feeling of speed I got. After all there's no point (in my mind anyway) in having an insanely fast car if it doesn't feel fast, otherwise I'll just be driving it full throttle all the time to make using high speeds to make it feel quick and then I'm likely die/or get locked up very quickly!
Thing is the sensation of speed is strangely muted in Cerbs its only when you look at the speedo you think 'that can't be right...' and the traffic appears to be reversing towards you at speed.
The lesser Rover engined Trev's actually 'feel' faster when they are most definitly not

As i understand it Hydratrack is TVR's version of a limited slip differential, if one of the rear wheels loses traction there is a mechanical change in the diff to stop you spinning the wheel up completely. Its designed to help you keep it where it is pointing and not watch your arse overtake your head. Its was welcome input when i got my car in November with greasy roads...
Oh, and for the record, try a few other 4.5's, because Jap turbo cars generally go backwards when booted against a Cerb. Evo's, Scooby's etc dont generally even bother becuase they know what it will do. I have driven a few skylines too, and to be honest the turbo kick is noticable but pales into insignifiance with the experience of the Cerb...they pull like a train from 2500rpm all the way to the red line....
