As you may have noticed, I've added a new FAQ page to this site to post (true) facts that people may find useful.

As that topic is locked (to stop the banter and arguments), I thouught I'd start this one so we can talk about stuff to put in it

Very good idea BO55. Forums go round in circles and new members often have the same queries.

What are you suggesting ... a list of know "good" insurers (AF, AP, Eleph, etc)

95 does no damage on Monaros (unless advised by your Modder) but 97 RON does give you a few more BHP.

The website listed is a great tool to look up garage prices for 95 and 97 either in your home location or when you travel away.

Suggest you do not edit FAQ, just enter the most informative thread or threads ie the ones that do not get hijacked. That way you can not be accused of imposing your views and the reader can hopefully make an informed judgement. Another suggestion tyres.

BUT, what would you put under insurance? Just because a few people get a cheap quote doesn't mean that others will from the same company. The only way you could realistically do it is to list those that have consistently quoted competitive quotes. Then you have the issue as to how it would get updated...

It is probably more appropriate to post tech info only, rather than specifics like insurance companies. They may be good one day, but not so the next.

I have just noted "Monaro Friendly" insurers that are currently known

That could constitue advertising... If these companies want to be contacted, they should advertise via PH... all the ones you mention already have and have got ad banners.

Fair point, but Insurance is usually a hot topic so I've put that one in

Without being obtuse, that is also advertising, they have op for banner ad also.

I agree caspy but isn't this forum for it's members/contributors to ask general & specific questions about their cars & find good, reliable information based on experience & not hard & fast rules? Therefore, as B055 points out, isn't a list of 'Monaro friendly' insurers good? What we must make sure is that it doesn't turn into a 'black list'! The same with any info, insurance, tech even genaral questions, eg tyres etc, these seem to be asked again & again at differing times as each owner comes up aginst the same problem! I think it's a good idea to have a FAQ section however, only time will tell...

You have a good point there caspy.. so, do a remove some very useful info (i.e. Insurers) or add in the "quick contact" (break the "No adverts" rule)

It may be advertising, but how else are we to know? I for one am in favour of too much info as opposed to too little on subjects that can a) save me time and b) save me money.

How about putting a list of the Vauxhall Monaro 'Specialists' on the thread and then getting people (with direct demonstratable experience) to say whether they'd use them again.... sort of a league table. Or is that a bit too close to the bone for some?

OK.. I'll do this, I'll list the Tuners that I know of, I know there are others, so you'll have to let me know if I've missed you off. Wont be doing League tables (thats opinion), just the "usual suspects"
