My bike jacket has armpit ventilation zips.

A must.

Do the commute every day, in full leather, and winter gloves!! Sweat like you wouldn't believe, but still love it! Need to get some summer gear really....or is it a bit late

Still plenty of time left to get new gear.. I'm seriously thinking about new better ventilated goretex stuff for the summer.
Stuff I'm using at the moment isn't exactly the most comfortable in the hot weather, but then I'm using it as I'm fortunate enough to be able to wear t-shirt and shorts to work (IT Company non-cust facing) and I'm really not into riding with lots of exposed skin unlike some.
My summer gloves have vents in the fingers and back of the hand but they really don't do that much at london speeds.

I've got Rukka Airpower kit which is quite comfortable even in this heat. The only thing that makes me particularly warm is my back protector, but I'd not be without it.

I think it's going be hot for a while yet. Get some summer kit, you'll appreciate the difference.

Use some fabric cleaner and a little water inside each leg and hang out on the line to dry over the weekend....that's what I'll be doing this weekend.

I use saddle soap to clean my leathers. It gets horses sweat out of leather saddles so the inside of a set of bike leathers are a pretty easy task.

I know it isn't worth it, and I said that I'd never do it, but I've twice ridden in shirt and shorts and it was lovely - especially at 6.00 a.m. yesterday on the trip to the staion nearby. Chilly but bloody great!

I'm not going to make a habit of not wearing the textile gear but it's like riding into a breeze from a massive hairdrier at present.

I've got a lovely car with air conditioning etc but I'd still rather be on the bike any time.

i read somewhere that the best thing for sweaty leathers is to turn them inside out, as leather has some sort of self cleaning property. outside i use whatevers under the sink, either screen cleaner or kitchen cleaner! not the best but gets flys off!

got full a/c in the car, it works very, very nice and drops the temp by a good 10 C

please dont drive big bikes in shorts and t-shirt as have seen the result of such riders becoming detached from their skin when they hit the road surface at speed, it is >>not<< nice
