AP Racing brakes - slight problem

Got a puncture today on a rear tyre. Despite the car being able to drive well on a flat I had to get it replaced.

Had the AP racing upgrade in March and guess what - the space saver wheel does not fit.

Anyone know a work around as in a new wheel etc?

My old Marcos LM500 had different sized fronts & rear tyres... I had to carry 2 cans of that self sealing foam/gel cans. Luckily, never had to use them - but everyone who has says they're OK.

I woudlnt have expected it to fit over the fronts...but it wont even fit over the rear ?????

How far off fitting is it ?? would a small wheel spacer give it enough ?

If the spare does not fit is it legal here and europe to do away with it and just carry the can of tyre repair. After use of the canned tyre repair can the tyre be repaired or does it need replacing.

I wish it was that simple, had a problem with the sidewall once & it blew out, inflating puncture gunk no good & was not carrying a spare wheel so it ended up a nightmare. Also once you run down a run flat it can destroy the inside inner wall - new tyre required. Not telling you what to do just advising that not carrying a spare can have consequences.

I have a very slightly buckled VXR alloy (19" available for use as a spare if anyone is interested, f.o.c. of course...

not in my 04 model it doesnt - tried it the other day when I had to put space saver on due to "bald" tyre. Ironically the spare on an 05 model actually looks to be a far better wheel and tyre from what I saw in the scrapyard.

That's not good. The last two times I've had a flat, its been dark & raining.

Anyone know of a larger space saver that'll fit over AP's

....cause dark, raining, and useless spare would be more than I could bare

Wheel spacers, about £30 ish for 2, very good quality, needless to say the company does not list the Monaro but I am sure they might be able to help, just stay clear of universal ones.

you could order a space saver from HSV, VY11 R8s have full 19inch job

No offence intended but did he not have an HSV space saver wheel in the first place, problem is concerned with larger calipers.

Had an update from Picador's who fitted the brakes.

They are suggesting the Astra VXR solution which is a compresser and foam to provide a temporary fix. Personal preference would be to be able to use the spare with spacers but the compressor seems a neat idea too.

Will update on what I decide - apparently the compressor fix costs around £60.
