Since the weekend I've been opening Firefox only to find I'm on the French start page

This is annoying.

Looks like I am being sent to French Google for some reason. Any theories/fixes? I'm not really very techy, so any help very much appreciated.

There should be a link on the french google site to go to google.com. Click that and I think your preference is retained for later use.

I thought it automatically detected the country page to show, based on the location of your IP address?

I have the same problem at work ... as sometimes we go through our german office, so end up with German homepage.

Clicking on the "Go to Google.com" link sets a cookie that will remember your preference until you remove the cookie. This should take care of it until your cookie expires or is deleted. If you block cookies of course, it won't ever work (beyond perhaps the current browser session).

Thanks very much for input chaps. Managed to fix it, more or less by mistake, by opening the UK start page, going into Tools 'options', and set current page as home. Seems to have worked.

Many thanks again.
