How smug will the Aussies be now?

I heard an Australian cricket pundit comparing playing England to a dog kicking contest.
'They bring out the dog (England), we kick it,... game over.'

And now football,...

Why do Aussies wear shorts?

To keep their brains cool.

What's the definition of an Aussie pooftah?

A bloke who likes his sheila more than his beer.

A tourist arrived in Australia, hired a car and set off for the outback. On his way he saw a bloke having sex with a sheep. Deeply horrified, he pulled up at the nearest pub and ordered a straight Scotch.

Just as he was about to throw it back, he saw a bloke with one leg mas*****ing furiously at the bar. "What the hell!" the tourist cried, "what the hell's going on here? I've been here one hour and I've seen a bloke s***ing a sheep, and now some bloke's w*****g himself off in the bar!"

"Fair dinkum, mate," the bartender told him, "you can't expect a man with only one leg to catch a sheep"

That's it, everybody; stiff upper lip in the face of yet more national humiliation.

I'm not sure how much more of this kind of crap I can take and I'm not even that big a footie fan - it's just the bloody principle that hurts - and the Aussies bleedin' well know it!

Still, their manager was commendably almost self-effacing when interviewed post match.

But I can't help empathising with Garth Crook's pointed suggestion to Sveneroonstein, that whilst one expects to be humiliated in other sporting arena by the antipodea, surely not in this one?

A damned disgrace and thoroughly depressing too. I mean COME ON; tennis, rugby & cricket, fair enough but this? Shambolic.

Paraquoting Monsieur Fawlty, shaking fist angrily at the ceiling: "It's bloody Bliar!"

Twas only a friendly... means nothing. The Aussies have also beat France and Brazil in friendlies in the last two years so if that's anything to go by they should have won the world cup last summer. I don't think the European footballing grandees are quaking in their boots just yet.

Still, would have been nice for "the first half team" to at least try and make the the effort. Half of them were probably too busy thinking about this Saturday anyway . You can bet Wenger and Fergi had a word in their respective ears telling them to "take it easy and don't get damaged" as well.

Or aeroplanes.

Aren't they responsible for the Brewster Buffalo?

Why do Australians call Castlemaine "Four X"?

Because they can't spell "beer".

couldn't stay away, read the Ferrari forum, not much happening, read gassing and what do I see...you guys worrying about some "friendly" game which means nothing.

Our boys only won because they are the best we have that are taught by your lot. Kewell is more English than Aussie anyway, just listen to how he talks

Good jokes Mrs Fish were they out of the Sun again

I feel this will be a bad year for the Aussie teams so no cricket world cup or rugby cup or even a teacup the way we are playing in all our sports

As for workshy Mr CZ .......SPOT ON!!!

I thought about working yesterday but the weather was so nice and I live on the beach on the Gold Coast so went swimming and then for a few drinks at the pub on the wharf

The soccer match rated for a 30 sec timeslot on the sports news whereas bloody Shane Warne (what a disgrace to kids he is for a role model) is either stupid, naive or a tw@t, some say he is all these and more in the national press.

While we're on the cricket, Adam Gilchrist is being made out to be a liar for saying a comment, that if made by non-black team would have been blown out of all proportion, from Latif was never uttered.

Gilly is one of the few decent Aussie cricketers who has no reason to lie and is nothing like Ian Healy (big time windup merchant, but we loved him for it) was behind the stumps so to call him a liar is plain wrong and the Pakistan player was lying through his Latif.

There can't be one rule for PC and another rule for mediocrity.

Oh, and Deres, I actually understood most of what you said but not well enough to know whether you were taking the Mick

We Antipodeans have a low education standard in the prisons

Oh dear I think you have all been beaten hands down by the Aussie

I get a certain feeling of deja vu

Made me snigger cos I disagree with the amount of coverage that it gets on TV in the UK, where as in Oz it is relegated to its correct spot squeezed in between cricket and rugby and more important news then 22 overpaid pre-madonnas kicking a sheeps bladder round on a grass rectangle

Waiting for the backlash

here's the few lines it gets in our press :

The gallant, goal-scoring Harry Kewell - his troublesome hamstring "completely cured" - proved more than a match for the English. Even his cockney twang was more convincing than England skipper David Beckham's. But Harry's accent reminded people the Socceroos were playing a virtual home game, with many players long-term fixtures of England's Premier League.

Sort of tells it like it is, they rested the top team after they were beaten 2-0 and the B team had a 1-1 draw, and Haz, you are a stirrer but if you are east of England then you must be on an oil rig

308,
I'm a big cricket fan and you're right, Gilly is a bloody decent bloke who's got a raw deal indeed
Warnie however has been stupid methinks, fairly obviously taken so *heavy* stuff to aid his miracle recovery from the shoulder injury in order to be ready for the WC.
The stuff he's been caught for is well known as a masking agent for this sort of thing.
Shame 'cos IMHO he's one of the best I've ever seen

And the Aussies played really well, and we were sh1te, simple. You lot have also beaten the Argies as well as the other teams mentioned by the way

Alan.

I didn't care that we got got beaten... every dog has it's day, alright they've had alot of days recently, fair doos. But the one thing that got my goat was Mr Beckham saying that the nasty fans booed the players. I have news for Mr Beckham, "YOU LOT WERE SH!T. ALL THAT MONEY AND INVESTMENT AND YOU'RE STILL CR@P DON'T BLAME THE FANS!!!"

Sorry guys, rant over

Alan,

I would say in order of top sports followed in Oz cricket is #1 then rugby league/union , Aussie Rules (can't stand the game myself), motorsport, etc, etc with soccer a long way down the list as it is associated with "wogs" of which I have been called once or twice during my life with the surname I've got

Warne has got away with a lot of crap, John the Bookmaker "weather reports", ringing that tart in England with "suggestive overtones", taunting the opposition crowds and now this "blame me mum" drug scandal.

What sportsman takes a drug of any kind without first checking it's status with the sports medico ?

What, he forgot the number, they didn't know who he was or was he just a stupid git that let's mum wear the blame for this ??

I think he is a poor example for the yoof of today and luckily they are pushing Brett Lee and Gilly as the cleancut examples now.

BTW they are my favs at the moment, use to be Slater and Taylor , oh and Steve Waugh. I'm sure if Steve played for England he wouldn't be shown the door so quick, he scored over 200 runs the other day in a state match and still the d1ckhead selectors won't put him on the plane to SA, too embarrassing for them I suppose.

Sorry, rambling again, I'll go stand in the corner for a while
