Help - engine woes

Have had a new starter motor and stepper motor. Butterfly thing cleaned in plenum, but car still dies when approaching roundabouts, lights etc. Sometimes revs drop quickly to zero then back to 1000, othertimes revs drop and cars stops. Starts again immediately. Also have hot start problem, then at Brands on Monday it would not start after 50 mins. Missed my turn, other times will start after 10 mins. Thanks a lot.

Hi Fella,

Check your throttle pot and your AFM settings. I get a similar problem with the car running fine for a few months and then it will start to act irratic and die at any opportunity, always turns out to be the throttle pot that needs resetting. Its easy to check with a volt meter. Heres how...

As for the hot start, I think this is a separate issue, do a search as there is a fix for this. I think you can buy a kit from modwise??

Same symptons as mine, only happens to me when knocking it into neutral approaching traffic lights or queues.

Be interested to hear people thoughts

Had same start problem, now fitted a Modwise Hot Start kit £20 and all seems well. Definately woth a try.

Speedo sensor input not getting to the ECU will cause this. It also generates an ECU fault.

I had dirty contacts on the ECU connector - cleaned them up and my idle's been fine since.
