I'm doing another 'charidy' gig and have made a Windoze screen saver with 50 of me favs from the past few years. Could someone with a fast connection download it make sure it unzips and installs as your default screen saver? (It's 18mb, so dialup will need a zimmer frame to complete the install)

(You can erase it after you've got it working if you like)

If anyone from here wants it - feel free to take it. It's optimised for 1024 x 768 but will centre pics if you are running higher res.

The link to the file is: www.stevecarter.com/SteveCarterScreenSaver.zip (link also on the charity page www.SteveCarter.com/charity.htm in case you're interested).

EDITED TO ADD... HAVE UPLOADED SLIGHTLY AMMENDED VERSION - ADDRESS ABOVE NOW LINKS TO NEW VERSION

It got all the usuall suspects... pretty squashed (about 240k per pic) but not tooooooo noisy.

Ta
Steve

Works great here too - fantastic photos

One thing though, some of them seem to have a strange line either at the top or bottom. Notable examples would be the one of your dog looking out at the boat (green/yellow line at the bottom) and the silhouetted boat in the sunset that's turned everything pink (line at the top).

I'm running at 1280/1024 so maybe not visible on 1024/768.

works fine for me here. very lovely.

being a perfectionist i noticed one thing that would bug me if i had created it and looked at it everyday:

some of the pictures appear to have a very thin anomalous line at the top and the bottom in between the pic and the frame. on some it is green, on some it is yellow.
its not a major thing, but i thought i would bring it to your attention just incase you hadnt noticed it.

ETA:
damn, beaten to it!

Bugger - I know what it is... In the screen saver prog, I need to make each frame REPLACE the previous, not PLACE ON TOP. The lines are from previous photos.

I'll fix and re-upload tonight (It's a 4 hour epic on this dodgy line).

I hate computers, me.

Every time I come back to my PC there is yet another wonderful picture adorning the screen.

Very well done, great work.

Thank you.

Ah yes, the screensaver worked very well. Best screensaver I've had in a while.

Edited to add that I'm running at 1280x1024, 32-bit.

Works fine for me on XP / 1024x768, top work on both the screensaver and the pics, might be worth a link to the charity site for everyone as I'm sure some of us wouldn't mind donating (ignore me if it's already here and I've missed it).
