Guys,

I need a new clutch for my Ultima and need some help identifying the correct part. Apparently I need a clutch for an older turbo (starter ring on the flywheel and rubber cushion on the friction plate)with a compressed friction plate depth of 8.6mm

The one in the car is slippling because it's too thick apparently and the cover cannot apply enough pressure.

Is there a parts guru on here who can help with some initial feedback?

Thanks,

Dave.

Get the gearbox number (or at least model number) and speak to a Porsche main dealer parts dept. They should be able to identify correct part number, then you're home and dry.

Domster,

Thanks for the reply - the Gearbox is a modified G50/52 which was especially bored out internally to accept this clutch. I think the original gearbox (which died under the load of Chevy V8) was a G50/03 but not sure... and I don't have it any more!

I'll try AFN and see what they say as you never know!

Cheers,

Dave.

The G50s are not the 'old, old' Turbo - the 930 - so make sure they know exactly what they're dealing with. You shouldn't have a problem with a normal size clutch in one. Plenty of Ults are running G50/52s with 550+ bhp without a murmur. Maybe ask on the Ult forum who's got a G50/52 and see what they use - you may be interested to know that Gardner Douglas came highly recommended for clutch/flywheel set. Again, worth a call perhaps?

The GD clutch kit is indeed, technically the tits (triple plate, smaller flywheel, mini starter, light pedal effort etc.) but it doesn't come cheap; £1700! If your motor is sub 600bhp, stick with the standard type supplied by Ultima, they seem to last remarkably well.
