Canon 350d broken CF pins
Discussion
Advice guys pls, my mate has bent the pins when inserting his CF card, he says he was being gentle, and I believe him as his camera is his p+j.
Looking on the web, this seems quite common, but Canon don't want to know, and I don't believe the shop are that interested either. It's 13 months old, but I susgested he tried the Sales of Goods Act route, as a fault like this is not acceptable on a camera costing what it does.
Problem is, how do we demonstrate that the fault was not his own making ???
I have his CF cards and will check them for damage (this is what Canon suggested was the problem, faulty (worn) card). At first glance however, the holes are all nest and there is no obvious wear or marking around the edges. He has about 6 cards and they all look identicle, having compared each to each.
Thanks,
Martin

If Canon is anything like Nikon, I would just send it in with the symptoms rather than the cause (i.e. say "CF card will not work in camera. Have tried various cards with same result" rather than "I bent the pins putting in a CF card"
, and Canon should fix it... When I had my problem where I scratched the sensor cover on my D70, I sent a note saying "Line appears in top center of picture, especially at smaller apertures. Line all but diappears by f/4.5, but is very distinct at f/8 and higher." And I got it back repaired for free, 6 months out of warrenty.
