Hi all,

I'm looking into the practicalities of installing a monitoring system for staff (at the moment, staff just tick a sheet of paper when they enter/leave the building)

Something like this would do the job, but would need the facility for reception to be able to view at a glance who is and isn't in the building for switchboard purposes, and we would obviously need to do an instant printout for evacuation purposes

At present, we don't really need the facility to closely monitor the hours worked by staff, but that could be a useful by-product for the future.

I had a chat with our IT manager about him writing a bespoke program, and effectively building our own system with the hardware required, but along with workload constraints, he suspects that "the perfect system" is probably already in the marketplace, and it would be cheaper to buy a package in, rather than develop our own.

Does anyone have any experience of a system like this?

k - thanks for your 'mail!

Meeja - we can do this for you. We have an "Enterprise Time Management" system that has "Attendance" functionality that would do what you describe...it also does a host of other things that you may or may not want - but the package is configurable so that you only need to see the functionality you are actually using.

If you'd like to see the software and discuss how we could create a solution for you using it I'd be more than glad to meet up.

Oh..and you can find out about some of our "Time Management" functionality here:

www.aballantine.com/

We do "Timesheets" and "Holidays and Absences" as well as "Attendance" and can let people sign in either at a PC Station or at their own terminal - or we can even take a feed from a "time clock".

All things are possible - but I freely admit our stuff might be a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

We can link directly to your fire alarm system. So when the alarm goes off a report is sent to all networked printers.

If you need something with some special features / non-standard that’s not available from the off-the-shelf packages, we can build it for you, to meet your requirements.

I don’t think what your after is particularly complex, so off-the-shelf may well be fine, but if you would like it simplified to just what you need, with your branding, it shouldn’t cost too much to make from scratch.

Sam
