I think I have a ghost everytime I get in the car and start her up I have to re-adjust the wing mirrors

The other day I caught it though I noticed that if I switched the engine off but kept the ignition on the mirrors started to move on there own. Anyone seen this one or do I have a poseesed car :-)

Quirks like this are down to that bizarre alchemy called 'TVR Electrics'.

Last week, on probably one of the hottest, driest days of the year, I was bimbling along merrily when the windscreen wipers suddenly perfomed a majestic full sweep of the screen and then came back to their rest position!

Just the once mind- twice would be deemed as a fault

Sounds like an earth fault, although I have no idea where the earth point for the mirrors is.
I have no idea whether this is right but maybe the cig lighter being also in the door shares the same earth point.
I would connect a meter between the body of the lighter and the earth of the battery to see if there is any resistance there. If so, it would seem to back my idea.
If not, then either the earth for the lighter and the mirrors are separate, or the fault lies elsewhere.
With the ignition on /engine off and the mirrors moving, is the fan on, if so could be earth on that. What about the earth on the fuel pump as that would be on also.
I understand that the heated mirrors should operate when you switch on the ignition but go off if the door is opened. The heaters obviously put more load onto the earth so how does it affect it if with the mirrors moving you open the door?
I'm sure that someone may have ideas about this. come on chaps! All you've done so far about this poor mans problem is to post whimsical remarks!!!!!!!

My right door mirror stays adjusted as I want it. However, the left one needs adjusting every trip, as it seems to reset itself to midget driver position. I think the left one has the ghost of mini-me controlling it.

Has anyone else has their mirrors perform a syncronised cycle of up-right-down-left-up-right-down-left? I think it's a ghost, perhaps the same one that caused a 'mirror control unit' to drop between my legs on the A21!

Mine normally only perform synchronised movements when trying to start after a long run (hot start problem), interesting to watch and passes the time, while the car cools, to get the bloody things set right again.
