First of all I'd like to say thanks to GetCarter, Ian H and Longers for their invaluable advice. It was my first time in the Lake District and I loved every moment!

We stayed in Glenridding and generally stuck to walks around Ullswater. It was so nice, we never felt the need to venture further afield. Apart from the walking, photography, and eating, me and MrsTwo also got married so it was a trip to remember

Glad you enjoyed it!

Sheep pic is the best for me, although the Lakes / sheep combo always brings back bad memories for me of one startled sheep, one falling tripod and a broken lens.

Sheep would make a great postcard and I am sure sell like hot cakes in the Lakes. Also the last one is really nicely done.

Cheers

Congrats - and glad you had a good time. Hot wasn't it!

I'd agree - you should punt that sheep pic to a few postcard bods if I were you!

I might just give that a try. Do I need a model release?

No. Sadly I didn't meet the sheep until it was too late

The last pic of the jetty, looks like the one at "The Inn on the Lake"? Also is the waterfall one Airy Force, or however you spell it.

Stunning photos, all of them, the sheep made me laugh, is it real. Spent many holidays in the lake district, just a wonderful place to visit.

Thanks. Yes, the sheep is real. Totally lucky shot really as it ran away right after I took it. Agree with you about the lake district though, I shall certainly be going back.

Not strictly true, it's possibly one of the most photographed locations - Ikea have a similar shot (looking down the jetty) as one of their posters, a different version is on a card I got from WHSmiths...

excellent shots

Love the sheep one, waterfall and the last one. The others are all good too, but I especially like the three mentioned

Excellent stuff! I read in the paper that last year the surface 2-3ft of Ullswater got to 25C! I used to stay just up the lake from there, near Watermillock. A glorious 1920s lakeside house which got "renovated" and lost almost all its' character. Here's a view from the house beach ('scuse the iffy scan of a silver halide print)

I went back a few months later with a wider angle lens, but the owner had chopped the tree down

I agree, the sheep is definitely postcard stuff!
