Took this picture of the hound playing in the sea yesterday, I'm thinking of blowing part of it up as a print but can't decide where to crop it, any suggestions?

I think I'd be cropping a chunk off the bottom and the LHS, to remove fairly dead areas but keep the proportion about right...

Have you tried putting it in black and white? Might look good

Ehh that seems to take the dog out of context too much. It just looks like a flying dog... which I guess might be desirable to some?

I think I'd be tempted to do something like this, a rotate left me with less option to place the dog to one side of the pic, so still quite central. For me the horizon is worth keeping, better than a tight crop.

I would give it some dynamism by cropping it so the dog appears tight up against the bottom LH corner, with plenty of room above -- at least double the height of the dog and as much room as the picture allows to the right. That will make it look as if the dog is about to jump out of the frame.

Hmm I like that idea.

You might also want to add a little to the top of the photo and clone in more sky, so that it looks a little better balanced. If you could link to a high-res version, I'll take a crack at it after coming up with a competition photograph...
