Had the pleasure of sitting in one yesterday and hearing it..
Oh
My
God.
What a staggeringly desirable piece of kit it is. The engine note was more like a Spitfire (and I don't mean a Triumph!) than a car - sounds like scarcely controlled anger going on inside the exhaust.
And the retractable rear wing as it folds away, step by step (to stop you trapping your fingers) is just too cool.
If I ever needed a reason to work harder than ever, this is it.
I want!

A friend drove the Veyron in Spain last month at a Bugatti/Bentley/Lamborghini drive weekend. He has an order in to replace his Murci with an LP 640 shortly, but the drive in the Bug has him thinking of ways to buy the Veyron instead/as well. I think the experience in Spain has spoiled him for anything else.
Of course, he lives in the centre of Australia where there are no speed limits...

Imagine the luxury car tax in Aus on a Veyron

I think the Veyron is an awesome piece of technology. If you have a spare 1,000,000 euro's plus v.a.t. then bloody good luck to you. It just bothers me that once you are into such a monster they have you buy the short and curlys. Imagine what an engine might cost once the cars out of warranty.
1,2,3,4,£500,000, who knows. yes this is slight exageration but where else can you go to get one or to rebuild it if it goes pop ?.

The Mclaren is the epitome of a super car, it has it all and is a very reliable and rewarding car to drive by any account and to be fair, the Veyron is in it's infancy to the degree that little to no feedback has been given by way of experience/ownership yet to be judged fairly but, OIMO, I think time will tell which is the greater all rounder. All else aside, I wholeheartedly applaud Audi for undertaking such an enormous challenge.

Er Isnt it VW who build the Veyron and not Audi, as Audi are owned by VW.

Being from NZ I am 95% sure the luxury car tax on new cars is 100%!

Yes, buy VW are starting to get their act together on sharing parts around the company
There has been a lot of talk about how Lambo are likely to use a Veyron engine in their next big car
