Here are some photos from my trip. Didnt end up shooting that much was only on safari for 2 half day drives, and the weather and light were pretty dire the majority of the time...serves me right for going in the middle of winter!
When I was working offshore in South africa, we used to come into port just past Cape town. If you keep going about a mile to 'the left' of the piccy it gets quite grim, and we used to dock there, and then head down to Pier 31, or whatever it was called!

Fantastic pics. The waterfront brings back many fond memories of booze and birds
Gorgeous photo
You have some excellent wildlife shots there too. What lens did you use for shooting tele? I particularly like the surfer photo. Great stuff!
I used a 100-400L which was actually quite inadequate. I could have done with a bit more reach. Even though its not the fastest lens, i think if you went much faster the dof gets too shallow... the low noise high iso of the 1ds2 completely saved the day.

You could always save your pennies up for the 600 prime. Or the 300-800 Sigmonster!

The lion growling and the giraffes were crops, probably about 2/3rds of the frame. I like to get as close as I can and take more portaity wildlife shots. Ive got loads of other cheetah ones which are as nice as the ones I posted (i got really close to them) but I fear they may get a bit tedious.
Matt
ps. A canon 600 prime...thats a LOT of pennies!
