If I were to get myself another bike after a 3 year break this one looks appealing to an old fart like me. A 2003 model perhaps, but loads of old reports say they are not too brilliant. What say you.

Rode one a couple of years ago. Really depends on "what you need" -- for cruising and lazy trips between towns it does what is says on the tin. Forget it if you like back lane scratching though - but then its not really designed for that.

I thought they had some "quality" issues on early models to scrutinise carefully before parting with the hard earned.

My 2p......my dad bought one after 10 years off bikes, I rode it a couple of times, he sold it 2 weeks later, more pup than bulldog, 60hp from a great big motor, bit crap really, they look ok but are heavy, slow and crap, think i already said that, you want a fazer 1000 you do or a SV1000 if you like v-twins!

Never, ever saw a good report on these. Though I've not ridden one, I'm sure that all the reports can't be wrong. If that's the kind of bike you're after, I reckon you'd be better off with the MT01.
