I have just purchased a fabby Tuscan which is magnificent in every way bar one (this is where I'm hoping you can help!).

The cockpit is a splendid array of gold and
(at night)lime neon however the cd player is a racous boy racer display of blue and red neon which is very offensive.

Did the original stereos illuminate to match the dash? If so, does anyone know where I can get hold of one or anyone willing to swap for my week old Clarion?

I think TVR get all there headunits from pioneer , so it'l have whatever was available at the time they built your car , im guessing it's got the Organic OEL display moving pictures ?
you could buy an alpine , a lot more grown up with better sound and no need for flash graphics

Please don't refer to a Tuscan as "fabby". It is not a hairdressers car. (If you're a girlie it's just about acceptable language, if you're a geezer stop it now).

Hi tusk, similar problem on my Chim. Ally dial surrounds Leven stalks, buttons and all that…. drab radio.
So I’ve upgraded to the Pioneer MP3 CD player, still got various moving picture display but this it's hidden (if req'd) under a front cover that folds down or up automatically.
Pluses & negativities against the upgrade:-
Negatives:-
Cost,
Drowns the sound of the sports exhaust.
Pluses:-
Straight head unit swap, no wiring changes req'd.
Satin Aluminium finish enhances the dash.
15 Albums on "ONE CD" so saves space. Also if you haven’t a CD changer do you need one?

All in all, a nice piece of kit.

Am just going through the trauma of which stereo upgrade to go for in my just-ordered Tuscan S, so have been doing some investigation: It seems that the new Pioneer 5500 could be a good bet for an extra £220 approx. It not only plays MP3 but also WMA which it appears is better than MP3 and may become the 'standard' for compressed audio in the future.
Does anyone know what model the standard Tuscan S speakers are? I am being advised to upgrade to TSE 1695's - can anyone advise if this is a good idea?

If your ordering new I would take the standard stereo, it comes with the car anyway then once you have got the car Upgrade the unit , 90% use the same plugs, cages from my experience and then buy the stereo for the upgrade price and bingo you have a spare £150-200 set, give this to your mates or keep it for when you part ex the new car - makes no difference to value second hand of any car IMHO and put it in your next one.

Works for me..

tnks for reply David,
The Clarion model no is DB318RB. Is it possible to change the illumination colour from red/blue to green to match the rest of the dash lighting?

I don't know the model but go for the bigger speakers that are set above the back shelf and not under the rear quarter lights. It gives you a bigger cut out (for future upgrades) and the Pioneers they do fit sound quite good as well!

PS. It is best to stick to a Pioneer head unit as the Tuscan S comes with a seperate DAB box that only works with other Pioneer head units. New Pioneers coming out now look much nicer too!

Again sorry for posting here.I will email direct. As far as staying with Pioneer, Clarion also do DAB, Sat Nav etc.DAB of course is somewhat "patchy" but with a decent "normal" aerial at least you can fill in the gaps!
Edit to say, i can not email you tusk, e mail me direct.
