Hi all, I need to get hold of some Carlube Triple R 10W-40 Semi Synthetic oil to top up when needed , reason being i have contacted the tvr service centre and that was the oil they put in at the last service.!
I have read lots about oil lately and i doubt this is the best stuff to use but i would hate to mix to brands and break my engine through some crazy reaction between oils.
I know there is an oil expert that frequently posts on this forum, perhaps you may have a opinion on this Mr opieoilman.

My car is a 1999 Chimaera 500 , with 27k on the clock .
I have had it about 3 weeks now and was told this oil was good for the engine because finer oils tend to find ways of leaking out! and using expencive brands is more of a marketing thing.
bottem line really is i want whats best for my car!

thanks for any help on the subject

Nothing but good words about both of them (Simon and Guy used to use the same logon) on the owners club for my previous car... it was a very good Skoda, honest...

Contact number and email are on the opieoils homepage

I'd say that you'd be safe using Magnatec 10/40 to top up- but give the service centre a call to confirm first.

This is what has lubed my '94 for at least the last 4 years and I find I only have to top-up about once every 6 weeks or so, despite using the car daily

Sainsburys is currently the cheapest supplier btw

most would feel better to top up with the same make of oil,but theres no reason you cannot top up with 10/40 semi, same spec oil from different brand.

Change your oil and treat your car to top of the range product like the Silkolene 10/50 stuff as supplied by Simon and Guy at Opie oils, (and no, no connection to Opie other than using Silkolene in my Griff 500).

There is a very well respected engine builder that posts here that will not guarantee his engines unless Silkolene is used. Makes you think!

Having used Fuchs/Silkolene products for heavy planty for many years and moving car from main dealer to indie for service used Silkolene fully syn 15/50. What a difference.
Engine sounds quieter feels smoother and instead of Mobil 1 using one ltr per 1000 miles just done 3000 miles continental driving on one litre of Silkolene.
