Give Cathy Farren at Jago's at Chichester a bell. They're really helpful and will more than likely be able to decipher the letters and numbers for you. Their number is; 01243 789366/530885
May as well give them a plug...........

I'd be interested to know how you got on.....I had assumed that the Jeeps Chassis No. was Jee ******* and if the coding was to work out on the same basis as mine, it was made April 1990 but as I cannot be sure phone Cathy!

Hi, I presume you have done a vehicle inquiry through the DVLA site using the registration number- they will give you a list of former keepers if you pay them a gratuity- there's a link to this on the links page of the new forum.
You might also try Boldfish (Tony Crockford)who has masses of archive material and photos - you can view much of this your self on his flicr site- be prepared to put aside a few hours if you go down this route!
Old editions of Transmissions used to contain listings of vehicle by region and owner and listed colours and registrations and I think engine size/ whether owner was builder etc This could be another route to explore.
