Just came across this footage from 1963.

For those that have raced or trackdayed at Oulton, you'll recognise the turns! Not much different than today except for the big oak trees next to the tarmac.

Bloody Awesome !!!

Great post - that's a great piece of film. Frankly I'm amazed at the quality of the images and the lack of vibration in the camera. It's obviously a compliation of testing and race - I can't imagine that even Jim Clark had time to poke the camera between his legs to catch a shot of his feet dancing on the pedals!

Bumped up because I think this deserves more than just one viewer and comment.

Really excellent piece of film that ... Jimmy was one of - if not the best - ever.

Quite a well known piece of film now. Most of it was specially shot as a promotional film for Shell (or BP - not sure which oil company).

I am amazed at the amount of copwrighted material now appearing on Youtube - I wonder when the lawyers will step in to have it closed down.

I recognise the track towards the end of the clip .. but where did those long straights come from? the circuit looked about 3 times longer in that clip with huge sections I don't recognise at all. Are we sure it's all from oulton .. some is for sure but was the old track different after lakeside until the run back to knickerbrook? Knickerbrook to old hall and then lakeside all looks exactly the same though

Pretty much the same, but no chicanes at Foulstons (now Brittens) or Knickerbrook. The runoffs are now much wider & several gravel traps have been added, all of which makes it look very different, although the basic track layout has hardly changed.

I thought that at first but watch it a few times and you start to get your bearings a bit better.
