New Bushes or New Wishbone?
Discussion
................:confused - Front N/Side lower wishbone bush needs replacing, wondered if easier to replace whole wishbone instead, as apparently they come already fitted with bushes. Just had top bushes replaced both sides, and am wondering if anyone has had a similar dilemma/experience.
Removing the old bushes and pushing in the new ones is a pain, but you'll find tips on these pages. If you don't want to do it yourself, take it to a garage/machine shop with a hydraulic press and they will probably do it for under 40quid. General sports car specialists are a good start. It will cost roughly an extra 200 for new wishbones with bushes fitted. Unless the wishbones are badly corroded, cracked/bent then that wouldn't be money well spent.
Chances are that when the wishbone is removed it will be rotten and need replacement anyway. I re-bushed the entire car and if doing it again would simply buy new pre bushed parts for the front rather than all the hassle of removing the old bushes, cleaning, painting and then fitting the new ones.
Seems odd that you are changing only one bush, unless you are doing the minimum required for the MOT man or something.

Take the pain and fit the new powerflex poly bushes. This would apply even if you do find you need a new wishbone imho. The powerflex bushes are so much better in every way compared to the std ones,ie longer lasting, better performing etc.Whats more,if you ever do need to replace them(doubtfull)then they can be taken apart by a child,as they assemble in two halves! Its one of those 'fit and forget' things.
You can get the powerflex bushes for a very good price from Julian at www.track-car-solutions.co.uk

Just had many bushes done, O/S/Front Spot On, but the N/S/Front lower wishbone bush/es is/are shot and is slowly wearing the wishbone (mushrooming)?? after further inspection, hence only one side - Thanks though
