Need some second opinions. I had a 30K service last week, part of which included the installation of a new slave cylinder since changing gear was getting difficult. 200 miles later and the clutch is screaming; it goes back on a loader to the garage who inform me that the slave is ok, but the part that looks to have failed is the clutch release bearing which in turn has taken out the clutch pressure plate = new clutch...
Apparently the timing of the bearing failing is down to pure bad luck and nothing to do with the fitting of a new slave. Obviously I am struggling to believe that there is no link between having some clutch work done and then having it go 200 miles later.
Can anyone shed any light on this or confirm that I'm just incredibly unlucky?
Thanks

The clutch assembly design is crap full stop. For the same price as the standard item TVRCraft will fit a far superior asembly and you will never have the same problem.
Yea AP Racing are renowned for crap design. It's more likely down to the way TVR have used it. Opinion amongst a few of the indies is that a lot of the problems/early failures are down to bad setting up.

Tell me more please - need to replace mine about now as well
As Tman says give Dave Davies a call at Craft. With the able assistance of another clutch specialist they have come up with a complete assembly that will replace all of the standard assembly (slave, thrust, actuator, pressure plate, friction discs and they mod the standard fly wheel as well.
It WILL last far, far longer than the standard set up.
