Which is also known as Office 2002 - I want to JUST upgrade the Outlook part to Outlook 2003 (I have the product) can this be done or do I have to do the whole lot?

to be safe, I'd uninstall Office2002 (goto office 2002 in the add-remove programs in control panel and modify installation) and then install Office2003 from there. The only complication then is getting data copied across.

Shouldn't be a problem to simply install over the top though, just preventive measure

Office 2003 has separate MSI files for each component. Just run the outlook one from the CD rather than the pro11.msi

I may be misremembering here, but weren't there issues with doing that and using Word as your email editor?

Simple answer: don't run Word as your email editor. I've never understood why people even bother to in the first place...

My reason? For more granular control over document permissions in Windows Rights Management.

Most people use it because it's the default setup. The original poster therefore probably uses it, and the changes suggested will stop him from doing that. Only fair to point it out

There are issues with using word as the email editor, but rights management was new with 2003 AFAIK so losing 2002 as an editor shouldn't present a problem.

Eh? WRM does require Office 2003. I was just explaining why I use Word 2003 as my editor.

The issue with installing Outlook 2003 without the rest of Office is detailed here - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ass

i.e. Users cannot use WordMail as their Outlook editor.
Users cannot use the MailMerge feature.
The File | Send to | Mail Recipient capability is not available.
Minor problems can occur with the Office Assistant — for example, when one Office application turns the Assistant on, and another one turns it off.

I was just pointing out there would be limitations, that's all...
