Front paddock stands
Discussion
Stupid question (I suspect), but i've just got some decent paddock stands to replace the crap rear one I had previously (and also so I can use tyre warmers as & when I choose to). However, never had a front stand before & wasn't sure where I was meant to support the front ?
The stand/s is a Harris one, as above.
If you just need to support the wheel off the ground to put a tyre warmer on or to remove the wheel then you can simply support the front of the bike on the forks (assuming you can still get to the axle nut). If you need to remove the forks then you'll need the type that lifts the front from the bottom of the steering stem and if you need to replace the head race bearings then you have to be more inventive.
Personally I normally use an engine hoist to lift the whole bike off the ground but it's way over the top just to change a wheel.
It looks to me like that one sits under the bottom of the front forks.

Mark

Is it just me or does anyone else not trust front paddock stands? My one seems to 'just' get under the fork and most of the support part is up the side of the fork? Not a good look, especially when you've got a Busa dangling on top of one like me,i won't let the sodding thing out of my site!
