Just read an article in The Herald. www.nzherald.co.nz/section/story.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10394316

Story story. Rotorue council has voted to ban anyone convicted of 5 or more dishonestly offenses from the CBD. Good on them I say. But reading further on the NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES has objected and said the proposal was unlawful because it took away the right to freedom of movement.

"It's unprincipled and will be offensive in terms of the Bill of Rights Act in that it is blocking them from the king's highway, or public places," said chairman Michael Bott.

Blood boiling I look then up and can only find one decent link www.wellington.govt.nz/cgi-bin/com_dir.cgi?mode=more&id=NEWZEALA1062194643

No email and I'm not riled up enough for a phone call. Typical of the sneaky bastards not to have a website or email.

In my opinion if you've been convicted of these types of crimes on multiple occasions, you're probably pond life, on the dole and are an oxygen thief. If I had my way you wouldn't be in prison since that would cost me money. You'd be on a small island somewhere as part of a reality show, with a title along the lines of 'Survival of the fittest'.

Thank you.

Good Rant Ian

Back in '87 or '88 we tried to knee-cap the NZ Council for Civil Liberties when they attacked an offshoot of the Engineering Society for forming the 'White Male Heterosexual Protection Society'.

The idea was to quietly get enough additional members joined up to wind them up at their next AGM. Only managed to get 4 members signed up before someone in the student union tipped them off.

I actually think the concept of a Council for Civil Liberties is a good thing . . . pity it's more like the Council for Bleeding Heart Lilly Livered Liberals.

Fee like re-forming this? I might only be borderline on the heterosexual, but I'm keen

Actually we had several Samoan, Asian and Female members and at least one gay member that I knew of.

They did agree however that the 'White Male Heterosexual Protection Society' was necessary to redress a bias in the student union at the time.

Ian - the world is full of bed-wetting PC mung bean eaters. Fortunately, I hammered into one of the tree hugging nobbees at full monty on my snowboard yesterday. I could tell she was one of them because she wouldn't admit it was her fault (it was 50/50), she didn't ask if I was OK and her husband didn't bother to help her up (equality and all of that I guess)and she was wearing one of those daft Nepalise hippy wooly hat things that is a bit like a multi coloured woollen boob with two long tassles.

Am I narrow minded?

PS - Gollywogs are cool.

There is a serious problem with a society when the criminals have an easier time getting their rights looked after than the general populace. I bet that asswipe libertarian would be singing a different song if one of them mugged his children or robbed his house, or (heaven forbid) raped his wife.

I HATE HATE HATE champagne socialists and NZ has more than its fair share.

Just to stir things up a little more...

One of the four submissions received objecting to the Hampton Downs circuit development was from...

The Corrections Department - no doubt worried about the effects of noise on the delicate constitutions of the prisoners.

Either that or the availability of a large number of potential get away cars
