NEW Front brake calipers please.
Discussion
Just had my car through its first service in my ownership by some very nice chaps from TVRCC.Thanks Guys. They have tracked down a fault with one of the front brake calipers which is partially siezed and need replacing.
Have tried a couple of main dealers but don't have in stock and need to order from factory.
Does anyone know where i might get some sooner and maybe cheaper for a 11/1994 M 5.oHC.
The disks seem to be bigger than 4.o i have seen.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Chances are it's a part from a Ford Sierra XR4i or Escort RS Turbo (86-90), but as Steve Heath says there are differences between cars. If you clean the brake caliper you should find a part code, (3 numbers/letters). Any good brake factors should be able to sell you a reconditioned caliper - i think there was someone who purchase done for £50 just a couple of months ago.
Just one was done, I’ve not noticed any problems with the brakes since, pulls up better now as used to get a bit unstable under heavy breaking.
I don’t have his number to hand but if you look in the links he’s listed in there!
Don’t think he stocks then but got them the same day, they are an exchange item so if you’re doing the job he’ll need your old one!
His service was very good, having been VERY disappointed with the previous people who serviced the car and I didn’t have to have a weekend away to get the work done either!

What do you mean by partially seized, basically it either works or not, whats seizing the piston or the movement on the floating pins, does the brake pedal feel spongy (bleed the brake caliper)?, does the car pull to one side when braking ?, try jacking the problem wheel and caliper off the floor and get someone to apply the brake to see what the problem is, you probably could free it up yourself by lubricating the piston and floating pins, the pads also seem to rust up and jam in the caliper as well.
Good Luck.

Is definatley partaily siezed. only pulls when braking very hard. but operates okay in normal driving conditions. The calipers have been looked at to confirm this.
But thanks for your interest and suggestions.

Sounds a lot like the symptoms I had when the sliders wore out. Basically under heavy braking the slider would jam, so one pad didn't get the full pressure, then when I came off the brakes that pad would not release fully. Lot worse when things were hot. SOoution is new sliders or a new caliper. If you're facing new calipers, consider going for a brake upgrade too, you can get significantly better braking for relatively little extra cost. In my case it was the rear caliper causing the problem BTW, although it wasn't obvious from the driver's seat.
