Torro Rosso found to be running mass dampers now
Discussion
You'd have thought they might think "Hmmmm Renault have been caught out using them, perhaps we'd better take ours out until the dust settles...." but no.
The Toro Rosso team has been found to be running mass dampers and have been told to remove the devices from the cars in scrutineering for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Toro Rosso has decided to remove the devices from the cars, despite the fact that the FIA stewards in Germany overruled the F1 technical department but there is to be an appeal in Paris on August 22 to decide whether the F1 technical people or the stewards are correct.
Renault ran without the dampers in Germany and did not do very well in the race and have decided not to run them this weekend in Hungary. This will avoid the possibility of punishment but at the same time means that if the court rules against the FIA, the team will not be recompensed for points that were lost at the two races.

also sounds like Renault are playing their policitcal card there ..if they win the championship it's because they're the best team despite having their technical wizardry banned .. if they lose to ferarri the moral victory is still their's as it will be seen that the governing body pandered to ferarri once again.
Even if renault lose the WC, they've still won in many people's eyes...

or that the main reason Renault won was the illegal damper?
I am behind ferrari on this one but lets see how it turns out this weekend?

The damper wasn't declared "illegal" until the last GP - the FIA approved its use mid season 2005. Apparently Ferrari suggested to the FIA that the mass damper route could lead to teams developing twin chassis to allow the dampers to work efficiently....despite the fact that the current regulations are framed very carefully to prevent this. Ferrari don't get the performance gains that Renault do from their mass damper, neither do McLaren, who also appealed the damper....a case of sour grapes all round?
It wouldn't surprise me if Tony Scott Andrews tendered his resignation in the wake of this latest undermining of his position by the FIA.
