Thinking of changing to a Tuscan - your thoughts?
Discussion
OK,
I was going to have the headlight conversion by TVR Bodyshop but when i said that the car was Rosso Pearl they backed away. The car would probably need a total respray as a colour match is almost impossible so the bill would be circa £5000. I was also going to change the seats to Tuscan seats, a mod i know many have done and i think looks great but would be £700.
I don't mind the expenditure as such but as my missus said, "why not just buy a tuscan".
I have no experince of the Tuscan, how the drive differs, cost of ownership, etc, so i would value your thoughts.
thanks
mike

Just my opinion
The Tusc has more 'wow' factor so the attention you receive will increase. The Tusc driving experience is IMO not as nice. Clutch control and accelerator are not friendly, possibly because they hinge from the floor. There are one or two PHers that own both and the opinion I hear from them is that the Chim is a nice easy car to get on with and to sit in for long periods. The Tusc gets more attention but requires more work from the driver.

I agree with Bob - I found the Tuscan more like driving a hot rod. It didn't have the solid feel of the Chim. But having said that, it was a mark 1 (with its associated rattles and nasty interior), and I would feel happier with the T2 convertible, which to my mind is the perfect replacement for the Chim. We've discussed it several times, but there always seems to be something else to spend the cash on.

problem solved

I wouldn't, having had one from new, they are just to fragile, you spend all your time listening to every little noise from the engine awaiting the inevitable rebuild, takes the fun out of it, I canged to a late cerb wich is a far better resolved car, however hooning arround in my Chim last couple of days I'd say its more fun that either, oh and what a noise! Have missed that.
