Was a great turnout on Sat and the noise contest was going down a treat... shame the Chimaeras seemed to be setting the pace. Think there must be some misplaced medallions blocking some pipes

Oh dear that doesn't sound good. Was it broken for both days? How broken was it.....was it just a case of Joolz not being able to set it up once re-assembled?

Sounds like everyone had a good time and there are some stunning pics in the other thread.

Excellent weekend aside from my obvious troubles. Big thanks to everyone who helped out! Special mention to ACT and Mark Adams who were extremely helpful in getting me running again. Mark spent hours looking at the car and disganosing the issues. Also I have to commend the RAC who turned up, spent 3 odd hours fixing the car, and brought a spare alternator.

And finally massive thanks to the organisers who made the non breakdown part of my weekend a very enjoyable time.

Seems the feed from the alternator is supposed to give a 12V signal to switch off the light. But it's only putting out 7.5V. Car is still charging and ran fine, but I'm going to test it with another Pre Cat's alternator. If the light goes out, then the RAC will change the alternator or refund me, as it means that it is the wrong alternator. not serious, just annoying.

Wildfire, you are right , the feed to the ignition light feeds to the alternator to "excite" it, once it starts producing voltage, it also feeds 12v back to the ignition light.
The light goes out then because it has 12v on both sides of it, so no potential difference.

I'm only getting 7.5v from the alternator, which is why the light doesn't go out. I'm not sure why I'm only getting 7.5 though.

This is with the new alternator?
What is the battery voltage before you start the car? (using a test meter, not the gauge)
What happens to the battery voltage once you start the car?

Great weekend chaps. The organisers should give themselves and very big pat on the back for a job brilliantly well done.
And congratulations to Kirk and his team at the White Horse for a fantastic BBQ, music and beer.
(I think I am just about recovered from last nights beer-fest !)
