My daughter has recently bought a Renault Clio, and the imobiliser has 'kicked in' after some water entered via the sunroof/arial. Does anyone know how on earth you can reset this. It isnt a central locking vehicle, no batteries etc in the key (I checked). I rang the local Renault dealer to be told the usual of 'Dont know exact price of reset, but approx £100.00 !!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its a 97 on a P. I've opened the key and there are no electronics inside. There is a toggle switch on the central console, with a 'key' icon on one side and a red LED light on the other.

i have a renault clio, P reg. I have been having major problems with the car not starting.
We too thought it might be the rain getting in through the sunroof, so we sealed it up and encased the wires in plastic and foil.
Sometimes the car will start, run perfectly fine but then once you leave it, come back to it it won't start at all. You can hear a noise but it doesn't start. I have sometimes had to leave it and come back to it hours later, then it starts.
Recently I have started firing it in gear which seems to bypass the fault and then it starts. I have changed the battery in the key fob but that has made no obvious difference. I was going to get an auto electrician out to it - but lo and behold it starts, so they can't see to it when it is in good working order.
It is the bain of my life at the moment and I am petrified of leaving it parked returning to it and then it not starting leaving me stranded.
Can anyone help me? is it at all possible to disable the immobiliser?
Any thoughts would be most welcome.
thanks
