motor not revving

Hi all.There is a guy who lives near me and he"s got a rv8 in a tr7,problem he"s got is the motor will not go past 4500rpm,he says if he tries it dies.Any ideas chaps?

Assuming it's injected... could be ignition amp or the pickup in the distributor; insufficient fuel flow; excess fuel flow; airflow meter or ECU problem...

Perhaps the engine just objects to being in a TR7 and thinks if it goes over 4500 rpm that the car will disintergrate

Do you know if its a fuel injected or carbed,
If injected it could be timming, start with taking the top of the dizy and seeing if you can turn the roto arm, this will see if there is any prob with the bobbin weights moving changing the timming, if its running injection it will proberly be running the stock regulator, they dont fail very often of cause a drop or rise in pressure.Also check its set to fire on the correct order, some one may have been playing with it. Timming is the key, start with the dizy.

If its cabs then its a lack of fuel, week mixture and also againg checking the dizy out for the above.
