We use the original Mark 2 version (if that makes sense!) .... superb camera - now over 50K images taken and no problems.

The reason I ask is that all I can get out of mine when I push the shutter (since yesterday) is "ERROR 01" in the LCD. This code is for when the camera and lens are not talking to each other. I've cleaned the contacts but it did no good...looks like it's going to have to go in for service. Only good thing about that is that it's still under warrenty...bad thing is that seeing as I'm just about to return to the UK I'll have to wait 'till I get back, and so that means I'll have no camers for weeks!

I've had an occasional Error 01 on the 20D, maybe 3 or 4 times in 2 years.

All i do is switch off, remove bateries & lens then put everything back together and all is well again.

Is it with one particular lens or with all the lenses you have? I believe Error 01 is to do with lens contact as you said. It could be as simple as loose screw on the mount, or problem with IS motor.

It's all the lenses so the problem is with the camera for sure.

Don't you just hate it when that happens. I have had a Hassleblad and a Nikon die on me in very similar fashion over the past few years.

Or you could get a good camera instead, like a D200...

Yes, I cold get a good camera like a D200...but I havn't got any lenses to go with it. If I did I'd go for a D2X.
