Hi There

to follow on from the topic above, I now have all the videos, movie maker working fine, just the videos I got are .vob and NOT mpeg or avi . . . . so I cant use them in movie maker

so ive spent the last 3 hours today googling it to death downloading several programs and still cant get the files converted to a usable format.

anyone got any ideas how I can do this?

I have 4 1gb files of video I want to edit up into smaller cut scenes in either mpeg or avi so I can add them to the lemon ring vid (this is all the best video we got)

thanks in advance.

Gary

ok, for the sake of searching (in case anyone else ever has this problem) after hours of messing about ive found that I can convert to .avi using this little shareware program

DVD2AVI

www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd2avi.cfm

but after converting I found that there was no sound, 2 hours of messing about I worked out I could output the sound to .wav or .mp3 as a seperate file but not in the same .avi file.. .. .. later I gave up and joined the sound in moviemaker then made into a file with sound through moviemaker but the quality is crap.

back now to the guy who gave me the files to ask for him to give me full quality vids in .mpeg or .avi. and not DVD (.vob) format (was my own fualt for not being specific I guess)

Have you tried renaming the .vob file to .mpg as that is what it is anyway(mpeg2). This works with premier so worth a try. I use VirtualDub to convert mpeg2s to avi files but be warned if you select uncompressed as they may be a touch large....

Google for an app called Womble MPEG, you can use the to demultiplex (split audio and video into .wav and .mpeg) or save the lot as an MPEG if I recall.
