wmv files, have I an infection?
Discussion
Every time I try to open a wmv file my computer locks up. Just freezes. Nothing I can do apart from turning it off and restarting clears it.
How do I get rid of said infection if I have one?
I'm running Firefox with AVG free if that helps. Also have run Spybot, but it's still there. Did a system restore too, but nothing has worked. I suspect it's just one file that has caused this, but how to identify?
Help!
Edited to add, PC is running slower too.

It could be any number of things from corrupted WMP install to as you say a virus.
If AVG Free and Spybot are finding nothing and the system is slowing down. Give the box a three finger salute (CTRL+ALT+DEL) assuming your running an NT system (NT4, 2K, XP) and this will bring up Task Manager. Pull up the Processes tab and sort by highest CPU useage (click CPU twice generally speaking).
On a normal system at idle "System Idle Process" should be at the top, using roughly 28k of memory and have high CPU useage (it's actually how idle the CPU is but). If anything appears to be eating RAM or CPU that shouldn't be jot down the name, click on it and select End Process. It'll flash up a warning just tell it you know what your doing
Just to be on the safe side use one of the on-line virus scanning things like Trend House Call, to double check AVG whilst you google that process name.
If it's a virus House Call should kill it, if it's a corrupted file somewhere that process will point us/you in the right direction as to what needs reinstalling.
