I got the rimmers catalogue too. It says the Steering rack does not come with tie rods - do they mean inners or outers? I bet you would have to replace the inner tie rods as the SD1 outer tie rods are bound not to be the same thread. Anyone know how to modify the SD1 rack to fit a wedge? (I know welding of the chassis may be involved too). I wonder what state the seals are in after 20 years in a warehouse in India ?

As far as I'm aware the SD1 is (or atleast up until very very recently was) still produced in India, using a Vanguard 2l 4pot (not the UK spec O-series 4pot), so the stock is likely to be fairly recent, unless there is something thats says to the contary on the list you have.

I've often thought about importing a spare rot free shell or five!!!

According to the following links Indian production of the SD1 (or Standard 2000 as it was called in India) was only for a short time during the 80's.

They may still be producing spares though.

The spares they have are all 20 years old as they have been kept under lock and key since they stopped production of the SD1.
