hi all,

a good few weeks into mi tuscan ownership now ! still in one piece, but havent bin out in the rain yet

finally my ccc cans have arrived...but....cant seem to budge the nut thingys to get the old cans off ! anybody got any good tips to help ?? have tried a few tools and sprays but no good

any help would be great....ive got serious popping and banging to do (so to speak)

Hi Paul,

I had a nightmare getting mine off. Finally took them to power to get fitted. The bolts holding the old ones one generally sheer off and then you are left with the problem of sliding off the slightly welded on old ones! The chap at TVR said that mine were a bugger and had to cut into one and peel it back. If you ask me its a job for the pros and is far less hastle than breaking your neck all day under the car. Alternatively if you have a big garage and a jack then get a heat gun on them and tap them off with a hammer, as for the bolts they are just standard exhaust clamps available for £1 at any motor shop

Mine came off with a bit of WD40 but the car is only 17 months old.

I initially took mine to Kwik Fit Northallerton and asked them to fit them but the jobsworth of a manager refused! Anyway I'm glad he did because when we got the car up on the ramp we noticed that the weld on one of the silencer boxes (where the can sleeves in) had started to come apart (im sure the Kwik Fit Fitters wouldnt have even looked) so I took the car to my friendly local TVR dealer who welded it back up and fitted the CCC cans FOC.

I got one can off no problem and thought "this is a doddle", then spent the next 4 hours trying to get the second can off. After using a can of WD40 and hiting the damn thing with all I had it wouldn't budge.
I then drove to a small independant exhaust and tyre outfit who poped it on the ramp and managed to remove and fit the new CCC in ten minutes and charged me a £5.

Best £5 ive spent in ages..

CC are must the pops and bangs are fantastic and really bring the SP6 to life.

I know this is a dumb question, but this is my first post on PH so please be gentle with me! I have a low mileage Tusc S which has had CCC's since nearly new. The pops and bangs on the overrun are awesome. Several petrolheads have asked whether it has been de-catted (which as far as I know it hasn't). So, they wonder, how do we get away with so much unburnt fuel igniting in the cans without wrecking the cats?

Make sure u dont use std exhaust clamps, i think they were 51mm i tried from kwik fit, they eventually didnt keep hold.
U can buy the original clamp from any tvr garage at £5 each, the weld on the nut on the clamp on mine came off when changing, and the thread went also
