I cannot get over this one
A 72 year old man from Bradford is setting off for Iraq to act as a human shield - should Nato attack the country - He's a peace loving man who previously stood as a human shield in Palestine.
Get this "They fired machine guns at me and threw grenades. My hearing is a little deaf now but it was worth it!"
What is it about Yorkshire folk!
Is there anything youd risk life and limb for?

Clearly this man is prepared to die keeping a murderous dictator in power. I think I'm a lot closer to rudegirl's thoughts on this rather than our much travelling Yorkshireman.
It is a sad fact that sometimes when governments & armys go after the bad guys, a few of the innocent get taken out in the crossfire. This is a necessary sacrifice to save the masses. I wish some people would grow up and recognise that the world is not a fair place and that tough decisions and actions need to be taken not hidden from in some sort of hippy utopian mushroom smoking mindset.

If you think speeders should be stopped, jump out in front of one!
If you think the environment needs saving from the monsterous automobile, EAT ONE.
Seriously though, I was dead set against bombing Iraq until NK started spouting about their own pre-emptive nuclear strike. Then it all fell into place.
Sure, Saddam isn't a threat now, because he's impotent - but let him get a weapon worth using...

But if I had to go down it would be for all my family, the cats, partner, possibly my Esprit?!? Its my baby you see.
BTW not for jesus. Sorry all you bible people. If you can instruct jesus/god to send all the troops home tom and it happens, you will have me converted for good.
I am a good person, don't steal, I give to others etc, my combined home salary generates enough tax money to support a whole suburb on the benefit, so I do enough for this part of the world.
