Choices choices
Discussion
Would appreciate some thoughts on my choices from you learned PH'ers.
1) Stick with my 2001 MCoupe (The ugly Breadvan one not an M3 - but does have the wonderful E46 powerplant)
2) Lotus Exige (and a Smart as a daily driver)
3) TVR T350C (Deposit already down from a Motorshow weak moment)
4) 993 C4S (don't think I could stretch to a 993 TT)
I know it is a Porsche forum but try to be impartial

Nice choices.
The 993 C4S will be a more fun daily driver than your M coupe (i should know).
The T350 is bound to be a great car to drive, too early to tell about reliability though. I suspect they've learnt a lot from the Tamora and Tuscan though.
Exige plus Smart is a nice idea, but having run a fun car and a daily driver (and ditching them both for a 993) i think you'll soon realise that whenever you drive the Smart you'll wish you were in the Exige.
It'd be nice to have an E55 AMG as a daily driver and a 993TT as a toy, but if your budget won't stretch to that (mine won't!) then i'd say go for the one car solution.
Just my 2 penneth.

Get a LHD 993TT - these can be had for around 30-35k these days if you look carefully. Alternatively, stick with the breadvan or trade it in for a new M3.
Finally, a post from me wouldn't be complete without a plea to consider the 964RS or 993RS as these are better than anything mentioned at the pricepoint, in my biased view, in terms of pure sports car ability (ie not comfort or day to day usability, but in terms of wasting stuff on trackdays).
Reasons against the others IMHO...
- Exige not v reliable and quite wearing, love the two car idea tho'
- 993C4S is good but sheep in wolf's clothing, and the wolf is good value these days
- Too many reliabilty issues still with the Tiv. I'd suggest a more sorted early Tamora maybe.

brilliant post from domster - he says it all with that 'sheep in wolfs clothing' - and the value for money proposition in performance Porsche has to be LHD, which is also much more exciting when overtaking
Almost impossible for a single car to do everything well, and Porsche-wise if you got the money a 996TT should manage, if you aint then a 993TT LHD is favourite. No sweat if you make wrong choice just chop it in for something else, unlike some other things in life ...

Thanks for your responses, it is appreciated. Here are my thoughts.
Mcoupe - Gotta love this car for the 'What the fxxx is that' reactions and the sublime stonking powerplant. Trouble is, life is too short and I have already had it 18months.
Exige+Smart - Two car idea appeals. Test drove an Exige last week and they are huge fun but kinda raw. Undeniably a track-day weapon but possibly a bit OTT as a daily drive (hence the Smart, although E55 sounds much more like it
).
T350C - I do love the look of the T350 and since the oily bits/S6 engine have been around a while the chances of something going bang shoud be reduced?? Will be test driving soon.
993 - I know deep down a TT is what I want but £55k for a RHD makes me wince. A left-hooker is an option I guess - any dealers worth looking up? A careful review of my finances is required before even thinking about a test drive.

I'll be careful how i put this because i don't want to start a flame war, but personally i prefer the drive of LHD 993's to RHD 993's.
Reason is that in the RHD 993 i find the pedals and steering wheel offset really badly, to the point of being uncomfortable/unnatural.
LHD 993 doesn't suffer this problem at all. You have to remember that this shell was always designed as a LHD car.
If you get the opportunity to try both i'm sure you'll see what i mean. I did, and i did!
