Can you transfer NCD?

I am becoming bored with my trusty and reliable Fiesta and want to buy something a bit more interesting and tuneable. I am a young driver so no claims discount is VERY important to me. I have had insurance for 9 months with elephant.co.uk but if I brought a mini that was even slightly modded the premium would be massive. Would a specialist company who cater for this type of car accept my 9 months NCD and carry it over or will I have to stay with what I've got till April?

in theroy you only need to be with them for 9 months to get the first year's NCD

I asked this question and they said no problem,

I was offered a "10 month bonus accelerator" but chose instead for the 12 month premium, so I dont think that I can!
