Slow internet speeds, help please

Hi I have a 10mb adsl internet connection here at home in Spain, I am only getting download speeds of 20kb at best, I used a freinds connection in his house next door but one and he gets up to 200 at times.

I'm using a speedstream 5660 router for the incoming line and a dlink des105d router to network the house out.

Can anybody tell me how to make full use of my connection, it is a pain watching movies, listening to radio etc.

I'm in Spain btw with a telefonica tel line but the principles should be the same??

Any help would be most welcome.

You have to speak really LOUDLY and put 'scochio' on the end of every other word, you could see 1000KB/s then

Turn all the PC's laptops whatever off. Turn both routers off and on again, the speedstream first. Turn one PC back on, let it settle down on the desktop and watch the LED's on the routers for a few minutes, not much should be happening. Then try t'internet again, try a download from www.microsoft.com/downloads, that should come through quite quickly.
