Hi,

Hope someone can help as i 've tried everything in my limited range.

I'm running firefox as my browser, but it continually refuses to connect to websites that require a password. The only remedy is to reboot my PC, then it works fine for a short while. I've cleared cache, cookies, history and disabled my firewall. There doesn't appear to be a security setting liek high, medium or low in Firefox.

It's starting to really annoy me now, but i don't want o go back to IE.

Any ideas?

daft question. How are you connecting to the internet, DSL/ADSL? Seperate Modem/Router or hanging off a USB port?
Have you tried a spyware sweep just incase firefox has picked up 'something' (it can happen just not as often)?

Is it all password websites or is FF blocking a sign-in "pop-up" ? Also are you running in full screen as the "enter password" bit might be behind the main window.

I'm using a Netgear ADSL Gateway which has always been fine, this problem started a few weeks ago so it could be some kind of virus, although i do use Norton.

One of the first things i tried was allowing pop-ups in FF and that had no affect.

Unfortunately it's nothing as simple as a hidden window, i actually get a dialogue box message saying 'cannot coonect to this site', but as i said, this only happens on some sites requiring a password and after i have been surfing for a while (can still access these sites just now after rebooting 20 mins ago)

hmmph...

Has the password manager in FF been corrupted somehow?

I'm getting some sites freezing my PC (Trend House Call) when I click on them using FF. The only solution is a complete reboot of the pc to clear it. Might be related, so let me know if you get a fix.

By the way, how do you get on here? This needs a password?

Sounds similar, although i can still surf other sites, i just cannot log onto sites such as my bank, paypal or my work internet-email login screen. Other sites like Pistonheads and Autotrader, stay logged in at all times via passport manager (i think), so i never need to log on.

it's getting worse. Just booted up and cannot log on to my banking site, which was the first site i visited today; It normally has the decency to wait a while before pissing me off!

Edited to add i don't use Passport Manager for my secure sites.

I had the same problem a while back, it was one of the extensions I had installed but can't for the life of me remember which one. Try un-installing all of them or checking for updates.
