Anyone going this year?

I don't ride myself, but have a number of mates who do and I have been riding pillion for the last ten years It starts tomorrow and finishes Sunday - I'm sure some of you have been/are thinking of going.. it's a fantastic festival and I always have such a great time... live music, plenty of (decent) food, relaxed atmosphere and of course the fact that it's held on a disused airstrip is the bonus because of the long, straight landing strip conveniently suitable for opening up on

If you are going, hope you have a blast! I'll be the one with a vodka and coke constantly in my hand, looking for my tent!

Yep, Stratford Upon Avon

It's organised and run by the HA (hence relaxed, controlled atmosphere!) but ALL bikers are VERY welcome.. "Speed freaks" are beginning to frequent it more over the last few years because of the drag strip opportunity - it's just great to be surrounded by like minded people

The live bands tend to be rock/metal because apparently that's what long haired scary looking Harley riders are into (and me!! ) but there are dance tents too which are great fun, especially after a few drinks! Loads of stalls too to buy bike gear and a variety of other stuff...

I've had recommendations too (not been yet). Very little trouble there, the organisers run their own security on site. Scrotes caught thieving are apparently not well received.

Last year we had the first reported incidents of ppl breaking into tents... the police caught two people and the one person who started running away got run over by the guy who was caught by the HA, in HIS haste to run away... who would YOU want to be caught by?!

Two years ago, a member of the HA had his Harley nicked (brave, brave guy who did that, is all I can say!) the "Wanted" posters stated "dead or alive"... I think I'd rather be dead, thanks!!

Sorry, I'm not going to spend money to support the HA. They are not nice.

Just been talking to a friend who went at the weekend, and he had a great time.

Looked in the official programme, and the HA's actually raise money for charity from the festival. This year's chosen charity was guide dog's for the blind.

Felt sorry for the hundreds camping becasue it rained very heavily on Saturday night.

Hi Wendy, I think you will find that its not a fund raising event as far as the HA are concerned. Most of the guys that help out there are doing just that. I have been a few times in the past when I was an oily biker and I have had a lot of fun there and met some really nice guys and never any trouble. Of course people have mixed reactions to them but there is good and bad in all.

I was actually quite fond of them. 25 years ago I used to have a Saturday job in Windsor Disco Centre. The Windsor Chapter used to turn up in a battered Reliant Robin and hire PA systems for their parties - regularly

[techhead mode] They used to hire two pair of twin 15" speaker cabs and an amp which when running into 4 ohms used to push out 400w RMS, so 800w in stereo .. quite a lot for a semi-detached house party [/techhead mode]

Other than a few beer stains on the speaker cabs we never had any problems with them at all and they were actually courteous and polite

They owned a house in Windsor which was a bit contraversial from their neighbours point of view, but later the rest of the HA disowned them. I havent heard anything about them for some time. We thought it was quite exciting when they came in to the shop as most of our customers were duller than a very dull thing

I'm sure they dont do it for free, but i can tell now they earn every penny they make, it takes a lot to organise the bulldog, and the bands do not come cheap, nor does the land rental

I had an amazing time, even though I did get rather wet running back to my tent at 3.30 Sunday morning in the POURING rain - while drunk!!!

Always have a great time there though...very sociable and welcoming
