does the double bubble screen make much difference as I am thinking of upgrading to one but want to make sure there is a benefit.

Can't think why the manufacturers fit such crap in the first place. I am yet to ride a sports bike with a good screen as standard. Go for it. They stop all that nonsense buffeting, especially over 150 leptons.

They make absolutely no difference to the amount of buffeting you'll get because you'll simply go faster until you get to the point where you think "bugger me, that's a bit blustery" and then back off a tad

I wouldn't fit one again for that reason. Anything that endangers my licence cannot be good.

I have the same theory on earplugs too.

I always fitted them on my bikes. It stops you getting fatigued and allows you to be a more alert driver for longer. Yes, they definitely work.

And protecting your hearing is a very good idea as well. Earplugs reduce the ambient engine and wind noise most, although they do reduce other noises as well. But in general, reducing fatigue and the constant wind/engine noise will keep you more alert and can save you.

Use protective measures wisely, don't increase your speed and other limits to end up with the same level of noise and buffeting as before. Instead, if you stay in your comfort zone, or increase it just a bit (knowing you have a lot more in reserve), you will become a better rider.

Get the double bubble. And the earplugs.

Generally they move the stream of air a few inches higher and you get less pressure on your chest/upper body. In some cases this can move the airflow from your chest to your face and that's quite annoying..

BikeHPS.com supply screens by MRA, they do a 'square' bubble screen and it's very very good.
