Just recently found my temperature guage is not working i.e. not recording any temp at all. Fans seem to be kicking in ok and turning on and off intermittently whilst car idling after a journey. Is this likely to be a loose connection at back of guage or malfunction in sensors from engine?

Quite possibly the connector has fallen off the temp sender, behind the dizzy.Check there first.

The distributor, its at the front of the engine with 9 HT leads coming out of the top.The lead which connects to your temp sender is usually green(and possibly one other colour) in colour and goes down behind the dizzy to the sender(if you have a serp engined car)The sender is more to the offside of the engine on pre serp cars,if memory seves.Serp engines have a wide fanbelt, pre serp have a narrow belt(10-15mm ish)
