TVR Car Club's BNG rumbles round

Big Northern Gathering includes Croft track day

none
The TVRCC Big Northern Gathering is coming round again with places filling up fast -- and among the highlights is a track day at Croft.

Where: Newby Hall, Ripon, North Yorkshire

When: Saturday 2 - Monday 4 September 2006

The ever popular BNG continues to grow and grow. It promises to be a massive draw this year following its massive success in 2005 with the combination of breathtaking drives, hill-climbing and historic Castle Howard.

You will need to book early to ensure your place on this fantastic weekend event of electrifying driving experiences, delectable culinary delights and the warmth of fellow appreciators of the finer points of automotive art -- Blackpool's finest. Oh and a small yellow Renault...

This year, the three days include a track day at Croft.

Itinerary

Saturday 2 September 2006

Three scenic drives out starting at the Harrogate dealers with free butties and tea/coffee - tickets £15 per person. Directions will be provided to all those who have booked (max 30 cars per drive). These aim to return to Harrogate around 5pm.

The drives will be out into the stunning Yorkshire Dales, with lunch included.

The three drives are now sorted and times agreed. All drivers for Saturday's drives meet at DriveStyle, Horseless Carriages Harrogate (The Lenz, Hornbeam Park, Off Hookstone Road) at 9am. Hot sandwiches and drinks will be provided free by garage staff.

All drivers to seek out their drive guide on arrival (they'll be wearing orange hi-viz jackets) who will provided written route instructions.

  • Drive 1 will depart at 10.15am
  • Drive 2 will depart at 10.00am
  • Drive 3 will depart at 9.45am

In the evening there will be a get together starting at Wetherspoon's Winter Gardens, on Parliament Street at 7.30pm. Meet up with old and new friends. Drinks at your own expense.

Sunday 3 September

Town Centre Rumble

Gather at Trinity Road Harrogate (junction A61/B6162) 9.40am prompt. There is a road closure in operation and the parade of cars must leave at 10am.

Newby Hall Gathering

11am sees the BNG arrive at Newby Hall. There plenty to do at this beautiful stately home Near Ripon. There's stuff for the kids -- large and small -- such as a train and a boating lake -- and there's even a plant fair the same weekend.

Access is easily found from the A1 or Ripon and is signed. Trade stands, inclusing the TVRCC, will be on site and there will be a free gift for the first 250 attendees. Entry to the house will be a reduced fee and will be at your own expense. No booking required.

Monday 4th September

Monday DriveStyle Track Day at the famous Croft power track. A long established Challenge favourite, Croft has two long straights, fast corners, esses AND a hairpin - a real treat for you and your TVR. The ticket at £145 per person includes a £5 butty voucher! £5 for non-member driver/passenger.

This is a first for the BNG. A great track with expert tuition available on the day. Lunch will be included in the ticket price and the first 25 members to book will be included in a draw for some TVR goodies, provided by Drive Style Harrogate. The TVR dealer will be organising some exciting stuff for you to admire while off the track.

Expect a superb day.

I went to the BNG last year with missus and had a great time, organising all of our tivs in to York Castle area was a feat in itself. I will make sure we are there again this year.I had never met Richard before and he is an electric character yet still relaxed with it, I don`t know how he does it.
